Bath Salts

Winter

A time to retreat, reflect, renew, replenish.

It’s the season for inwardness, the time when in nature, nothing seems to be going on and everything seems dead and lifeless. But under the surface, there’s so much happening! There’s vigorous creativity and growth going on beneath the soil, in seeds, bulbs and in the trunks and branches of trees. Similarly, Winter can be a time of quiet replenishment for us too. So in this period of cocooning, we thought we’d give you 3 nourishing Do-it- yourself treat ideas using Oryx Desert Salt in the winter months ahead.

Here’s the first one:

Treat #1: make your own bath salts

The combination of salt and essential oils has fantastic therapeutic effects and no one needs to be convinced to take a long, deliciously sensuous soaking bath in the middle of winter! Try this super-fast easy to make recipe for your own bath salts.

Mix together:

  • 1 cup of coarse Oryx Desert Salt (vital to use a natural salt to get the benefits of the essential minerals and nutrients of the salt; ordinary table salt will not have the same effect)
  • 1 cup of Epsom Salts
  • 1 cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
  • 10 drops of essential oil (Grapefruit, juniper for detoxing, Eucalyptus for congestion, Lavender or Ylang Ylang for relaxation)

Soak for at least 20-30 minutes to receive the full benefits of the ingredients. The salts and baking soda are excellent for drawing out toxins and excess water in your body, while at the same time providing the benefit of all the natural minerals and nutrients in the salt such as magnesium and potassium.
